Is it a dress or a shirt?

July 10, 2007

I can’t stand it when a girl puts on a great dress, nice shoes…and then jeans. Jeans + Dresses = Weird.

I also don’t like it when people try to wear longer shirts AS dresses. One of my friends was shopping recently and a store employee tried to convince her one of their shirts doubled as a dress. My friend is 5′ 8” and she didn’t believe the employee. When pressed, the employee admitted it only worked as a dress for girls 5′ 2” and under.

I think ShopBop convinced this model to wear a shirt as a dress.

I just want to get her some pants. (Cool boots, though. And ‘props on working the smoldering look even though you’ve got to be worried your underwear are showing.)

To borrow from Go Fug Yourself, perhaps she had a gynecologist appointment to go to right after the shoot!

Yeah, Trista is right. She wanted the world to be her gynecologist.

I have to beg to differ regarding the boots. They looks like patent pumps with big tube socks stuffed in and sinched up. They almost accomplish the suede-looking slouchy thing, though.

You’ve got to give her credit for something…I had to AT LEAST say I liked the boots.

Although, I do have to say it’s a weird pairing. Short, skimpy dress and big bulky boots?

I wonder if the stylist for the shoot put this outfit together as a dare. Or just so they could have a laugh.

Maybe the stylist just has a thing for trampy ’80s tap dancers? Those boots look like a weird hybrid of leg warmers and tap shoes.

I am the world’s biggest fan of short dresses (with long sleeves) and boots (think 60s mod).

Consider these beauties: http://www.heraccessories.com/michael-kors-harness-slouch-boots/ – fortunately I was lucky enough to get a pair as a birthday present last year. They are the best accompaniment to a supershort minidress!

You know what would be even worse? What if there are shorts under there…and the new trend is to wear really short shorts and really long shirts? We’re screwed!
